We are now in Uganda :)

Feb 27, 2013                                                                                                   Newsletter #1

Greetings from Northern Uganda!!! When I started writing this most of you are still sound asleep snuggled up in you warm cozy beds, we on the other hand have been up for hours…we are 8 hours ahead of you. The weather here is a bit warm, this is the dry season & their summer. My alarm clock thermostat is registering 104.5, but thankfully there is a good steady breeze.

Jeff & I arrived in Uganda safe, sound, & a “little” tired late Monday night. We were greeted by our dear friends, Keith & Lisa Coggin, who shuttled us off to the hotel for a good night’s rest & of course a nice warm shower. Tuesday morning we headed to Kampala to meet up with Bob & Carolyn Jacobsen for a short time of fellowship & of course to deliver their 2 trunks of supplies they had given us in November to bring over.
Northward bound….We spent the night at Restoration Gateway. Dr. Tim & his wife Janice were wonderful host. Their ministry sits on 500 acres adjacent to the Nile River, Presently they have an orphanage & a dental clinic due to open in a few months, with future plans for a hospital, conference/training center & more. It is quite a large project that God has laid out before them, but He has already proven to be faithful by all the work that has been accomplished so far. We were joined by Joe & Susan, a missionary couple who are serving here for the past year with 6 of their 7 children. They are such a delight & we enjoyed a wonderful night of fellowship.

Wednesday morning we toured more of Restoration Gateway & then headed onto Gulu. I am amazed at how much the road system has deteriorated since I was last here in August. We settled in at Sanctuary of Grace (SOG), Keith & Lisa school ministry in the Ochuku Village, then into Gulu for supper & some errands. o Joe, Susan and family joined us for pizza. What an amazing family. We can’t wait for them to join us at SOG when we get back from Southern Sudan…yes that part of the trip is back on.

This trip was planned to be somewhat of a scouting/recon trip in preparation for the team coming in May. As we found prior to our departure, God continues to rearrange our schedule as He reveals some amazing things to us... Every day is an adventure & we have only been here 2 days!!!!
